SYDNEY, Australia, 29 April - Teletrac Navman, a leading connected mobility platform and Vontier company, today announces the release of its VT202 device to market, the brand’s most advanced telematics hardware to date. The VT202 device has also received Transport Certification Australia (TCA) Level 2 type-approval, which means it has been independently assessed and meets the performance-based requirements outlined in the TCA’s Telematics Device Functional and Technical Specification for Level 2 telematics devices.
This new device will significantly enhance connectivity, data acquisition and regulatory compliance capabilities. Its enhanced Bluetooth connectivity capabilities will unlock immediate applications such as integration with smart OBM (On-Board Mass) scales for the Australian Transport Industry. By streamlining access to critical mass and load data, the VT202 will help businesses reduce manual paperwork, improve OHS outcomes, and operate more efficiently.
The new functionality represents a major step forward in enabling Smart OBM solutions for mass management, a critical requirement for operating heavy vehicles at increased load capacity on extended road networks.
“As the largest certified service provider in the country, we’re thrilled to be offering our next generation telematics unit to market,” Andrew Rossington, Chief Product Office for Teletrac Navman. As the longest-serving Level 3 certified Application Service Provider in Australia, Teletrac Navman continues to bring innovation to its technology and tools, helping transport operators achieve even greater business efficiencies.
“We set out to develop a device that allows businesses more flexibility into the future, with expanded connectivity to other peripheral devices, allowing customers to get even more value from our TN360 software platform,” said Mr Rossington. “As an example, the device supports additional wireless Bluetooth sensors for expanded functionality and the ability to connect via Bluetooth to smart on-board mass scale providers. The VT202 also has more functionality to acquire driver and vehicle performance data, which will assist with things like fleet decarbonisation measurement into the future.”
The VT202 is an addition to a range of devices that Teletrac Navman already has that are type-approved by TCA, including the IQ camera, the first video telematics camera device to hold a Level 2 type-approval.
Both the VT202 and IQ camera are also Telstra network certified devices which also provides reassurance of their interoperability with the Telstra mobile network in Australia.
The VT202 telematics device is available now to order, and Teletrac Navman will be showcasing the VT202, TN360 and the team’s integrated camera solutions at the Brisbane Truck Show in May.
