Challenge:

Central Land Council’s vehicles travel some 1.2 million kilometres across 776,549 square kilometres of remote, rugged and inaccessible areas in the Norther Territory. With more than half the incidents occurring in remote locations and often limited communication, they needed a fleet management system that would assist in these challenges and that they could trust to work. The team needed to prioritise an increase in communication and insight into vehicle locations so they could provide real-time response in the occurrence of an incident.

Our vehicles need monitoring 24/7 given some of our employees are working long hours which extend through the weekend. Having constant access to vehicle location in case of an emergency is critical. Teletrac Navman gives us access to all of this information and was a clear choice after our extensive investigation into other fleet management companies.

- Felicity Wall, Manager of Technical Services, Central Land Council.

Solution:

To meet its communication and tracking needs, Teletrac Navman’s fleet management solution was installed alongside Satellite Communications in the entire fleet of 104 vehicles. The added visibility has enabled real-time tracking of its vehicles no matter how remote. This has also allowed the Central Land Council to manage the safety of its employees whilst meeting its duty of care responsibilities.

It was impossible to monitor every vehicle across the territory before and the system has allowed them to now monitor and manage driver behaviour and ensure staff are following correct driving procedures.

Results:

By adopting Teletrac Navman’s technology, Central Land Council has achieved the following benefits:

  1. Track vehicles in real-time with the ability to use data to trace accidents, proof of location and speed of the vehicle to ensure duty of care is managed
  2. Print health reports and idling reports for any vehicle in the fleet to manage productivity
  3. Able to use the insights into the fleet’s use and operations to meet key business needs in record time.
