Challenge:
Stateline Freight, a rapidly growing family-owned logistics business, faced increasing pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic as demand surged for transporting essential medical supplies. The company needed to secure new contracts that required strict adherence to mass management regulations. However, their existing manual processes for recording vehicle mass were time-consuming and risked non-compliance, particularly when managing fluctuating loads across their expanding fleet.
With contracts requiring Higher Mass Limits (HML), Stateline Freight needed an efficient solution to streamline mass recording and monitoring for their vehicles to help with maintaining compliance.
The visual interface on the in-vehicle device is intuitive, which allows our drivers to monitor their axle loads instantly. This has not only improved compliance but also enhanced safety for our team on the road. TN360 helps us stay on top of it, allowing us to focus on delivering essential goods efficiently.

Solution:
To address these challenges, Stateline Freight implemented Teletrac Navman's TN360 Mass Manager module.
This digital mass management solution enabled the company to configure vehicles digitally, allowing the back-office team to create custom configurations aligned with the diverse specifications of their fleet. These configurations were then sent directly to the in-vehicle devices used by drivers.
According to Jorja Rezaie, Stateline Freight’s HR, IT, and Quality Manager, they were approached by a partner regarding the need for telematics to meet Performance-Based Standards (PBS) for trailer loads. After receiving a recommendation for Teletrac Navman and evaluating its features and long-term advantages, they decided to proceed with it. Rezaie emphasized the importance of investing in a solution that would grow alongside the company and align with their long-term operational objectives.
Drivers use the TN360 Mass Manager application on their in-vehicle devices to capture mass data per axle group or Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM). Integrated on-board scales provided instant, accurate readings, while the system alerted drivers and the back-office team if mass limits were exceeded, enabling real-time load adjustments. Additionally, the solution offers automated reporting of mass data, ensuring compliance documentation was always up-to-date and readily available for audits. This capability helped Stateline Freight secure contracts that required proof of mass compliance.
Simone Timos, Stateline Freight’s Operations Assistant, stated that they primarily use Teletrac Navman to declare all their weights, particularly for interstate transport. She mentioned tracking their journeys and utilizing the journey planner feature to stay organized. Each week, her responsibilities include logging into TN360 to ensure accurate weight declarations. Timos also conducts training for new drivers to keep them informed about compliance requirements, expressing that the system has been particularly beneficial as she herself is new to the transport industry and continues to learn daily.
TN360 has had a significant impact on our operations. Through streamlining our internal audits, we can quickly pull reports to ensure compliance, which has saved us time and effort.
