Lets talk about the importance of using telematics that is certified.
Type approval is a type of certification with a number of levels to provide assurance that the telematics meets standards. This certification process is undertaken by the TCA, a national organisation that provides assurance services relating to transport technologies and data to enable improved public purpose outcomes from road transport.
Type-approved hardware is a requirement for Level of Assurance 2 and above, applications of the National Telematics Framework for programs like TMA, IAP, and Smart OBM. To achieve type approval on our telematics devices, Teletrac Navman has met stringent functional and technical specifications requirements.
Why is this important? Regulatory programs are designed to increase payload and road network access. As fleets undergo their daily tasks, these come at a low, medium or high risk depending on the business, its operation, the route and many other factors. The telematics devices installed must ensure they can safely and securely collect and transmit data. This all helps to keep the community at large, safe.
